Following Tata DoCoMo and Vodafone, Airtel has made an announcement to bring 3G data services by year-end. Vodafone is expected to bring in its 3G data services by first quarter of next year. Tata Teleservices has promised to launch its 3G services by november. Airtel has bagged 3G spectrum rights for 13 telecom zones out of the 22 telecom zones in India. Airtel is to roll out its 3G data services in 13 telecom zones including Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. Currently BSNL is the telecom operator, which has 3G services available but it is yet to be widely available. Initially, 3G services is expected to be costly because of having paid in billions to acquire the 3G spectrum for India.
